I have been using both the Storymill and Contour products for my manuscript writing and story outlining needs and have found them both to be absolutely wonderful in their respective areas. I have tried many competitive programs, from Word to Dramatica to several open-source projects and found that Mariner solutions have provided me the best end-goal products for my writing needs. I am also considering your Montage product for my script writing needs as a change from the use of Final Draft, but am still residing the fence on that move as of yet. I am pleased to also inform you that my wife, who is a chef, is now using your MacGourmet Deluxe program for her archiving of recipes at my insistence and she is loving the product so far. I appreciate the work your team has done and look forward to new products and updates to your catalog.

I started writing once I became Cabin Crew, as we all need to keep a journal of our flights as a personal record. One year after I left the company to join a college, I read all my journal from the time I was flying and i found a great moment reading it. This experience took me to the habit of writing my daily experiences and for that matter I wanted to have somewhere safe to keep my notes. The idea of having a cloud never pleased me as I need the internet to check and update my notes, so I started searching for Journals that would be easy to use but also with interesting and useful functions. I found then the Mariner page through Apple store online. It was like a child in a candy shop, I was amused with the range of software and their functionality but as a good shopper I thought better try first. I download a demo of the MacJournal software, very easily I started my first page of my Diary and I kept for the 13 days until I finally purchased. I can't say how happy I am. But writing for me has a new meaning, everyday I wait to arrive home and start writing on my MacJournal, it is fantastic. The process to purchase was very easy and the information provided on the email sent just after I bought it was precious, everything I need to validate my software was in there. I did countless shops on internet for software and often had problems with downloads of information requested to validate the program that wasn't clear so I spent most of the time trying to find out how to start the software that I bought 2 days ago. I am impressed with the service provided by Mariner since the demo until the feedback email received the day after the purchase.
Thank you for all your attention.
My absolute best regards, Luiz de Sousa
I have to say how thoroughly impressed I am at macjournal's power. It is an amazing piece of software, especially for the main thing it does: journaling and document handling and it's flexibility with filetypes. There really is nothing that comes close to this functionality on the market . You can't even compare this with something like evernote, though I see lot's of people making that comparison...

My shopping experience at your website was easy and wonderful actually! I was shopping for my brilliant little brother... He's an author, only 15-years-old, and using StoryMill this past year he's now just a few chapters away from the completion of his first novel. It's the first in a series of 12 wildly original fantasy books. Using StoryMill he's plotted the entire series with detailed info on every character, twist, location and plot point.
Now he's started developing movie and screenplay ideas, so knowing that he'd loves StoryMill, Mariner was the first place I looked and I was thrilled to find Contour and Montage!!

After I made about 100 scans of old documents, receipts, and bits and pieces of paper notes and memos I then regrouped all my PDF documents (maybe 200 or so) that lived in various folders on my Macs. At that point I recognized the practicality of Paperless. Its ability to find a document, display it quickly, its centralized filing capabilities, security features and most importantly ease of use. That is when I decided to purchase the product. I love it and it is taking away lots and lots of my paper and electronic clutter. It is indispensable.

Just wanted to say how much I love MacJournal. It's an incredible
program - I couldn't be more pleased with it. Thanks so much for
developing it as well as maintaining it wonderfully. Very, very
appreciated! I couldn't live without it!
Best, Ingrid
Awesome! Wow, I'm really impressed with you guys! I'm now, depending on the receipt, seeing the Merchant, Date and Amount being filled from the receipt. Fun time for me today. Thanks for bringing Paperless to Mariner. I'm a very satisfied user. Keep up the great work!

I have been using Mariner Software for several years now. My wife found MacJournal for me shortly after I made my first Mac purchase. I have kept a journal for the past 25 years, mostly with pen and paper. MacJournal is the only software I use to write my journal electronically. Love the software.
Last year I was introduced to NaNoWriMo, the National Novel Writing Month event. Over 100,000 people take the month of November, starting at midnight October 31st and going through Midnight November 30 attempting to write an original 50,000 word novel from scratch in those short 30 days. I immediately purchased StoryMill and began writing. In my first year of participation I wrote 55,000 words and reached my goal.
Just as a note, I am not a professional writer and had never attempted something like this. The 55,000 word novel is not for public consumption but was simply a personal goal of mine to do write something big. I would never have been able to do it without Storymill.
This year, I want to become better at this hobby of mine and purchased Contour because even though I have been writing in a journal I really don't know how to write a story. I've never taken a class or had someone teach me the elements of good story writing. Within the first five minutes of owning Contour I suddenly learned what I had been missing. I'm looking forward to this November to begin using both Contour and Storymill to do another 50,000 word novel.
Thank you for such excellent. Your organization has been wonderful to work with over the years. Thank you for the support you have provided me.
You are free to use any quotes or comments I have made for marketing purposes. If there is something specific you would like me to share, I am more than willing.
Thank you again, Richard Bliss
One of the things that I have always liked about Mariner is that your company offers
smart software with fluid, intuitive interfaces and high functionality at a price that is
more suited to modest budgets.

Seriously, I have just installed Paperless, created my libraries (including
a test one) and scanned some documents. Labelled them, categorized
them, and viewed them. As I said, AWESOME! It was so easy. I am
using a Canon MP scanner (which I know is not really recommended,
but I already had it) and it works beautifully. Adding multiple page
documents is simple. I have not eave opened the documentation!
If this software helps me to become organized in my personal and
business life, well, my wife will wonder who has moved into our
house! I really am that disorganized, as I spend all my time looking
after others.
Well done! Thank you.

Ken Woodward
I am now an 82 year young retired professor who has had dealings with Mariner Software in general and Logan Ryan in particular. Being an
incorrigible Computer Illiterate, I have had to call upon Logan Ryan more often and for dumber reasons than I care to remember. I was always treated courteously, and even generously. No need to say that this company's software is delivers what is promised, and at very reasonable cost.
Thank you Logan and Collaborators.

"For years I have been wanting to start a journal for myself and my children to read one day. I have looked at other products but they all fell short. Now that I have found MacJournal, I have a full featured application that is still being supported and improved."

Oh my gosh, Montage is such an incredible piece of software! I love the scene mode so much - I'm only an amateur student writer, but get quite obsessive and usually go back and rewrite things loads of times - but it's so nice to be able to mark a given scene as "Final", and then leave it alone (whereas previously, rewriting would probably mean rewriting the whole thing all over again). And the different statuses are so useful too... and brilliantly colour-coded - such a good feature. And so much cheaper than Final Draft!
Good work!

Last night I accomplished more in 2 hours than I had
in the previous week, thanks to Contour. It's almost
like paint-by-number (apologies!), but of course much, much
more. Somehow, my creative juices are on steroids. Now, on

To the team behind MacGourmet Deluxe,
I am very happy with my purchase of MacGourmet Deluxe. I am a new diabetic, and I'm working on a vegetarian lifestyle. The Vegalicious Vegan Recipe pack, a free downloaded from the macgourmet.com website, was impressive. I have also imported 100 vegetarian recipes from Vegetariantimes.com and Allrecipes.com. All of that in the first 48 hours! I found the import procedure to be very quick and painless. I also took 3 additional seconds per import to copy the nutrition information from the website and paste it into the notes section of each import. This let me avoid mapping some ingredients to the included nutritional database. This product is a must-have for cooks and anyone concerned about meal-planning or nutrition.

And here is what our users have to say...
As a current user of StoryMill, I decided I'd like to try MacJournal as an assistant to my blog site and to keep journal entries, quotes overheard, and my often-random thoughts of the day. The Mariner Web site was easy to maneuver through and I downloaded the program free of charge for a trial run of 14 days. It didn't take that long to see that this was going to be something I'd use everyday. Buying it and registering it was as easy as downloading it. I simply went to the e-Store, purchased the item, and the next time I opened MacJournal I was prompted to register. Quick. Simple. Neat, very much like the product itself.

I think you guys really have the right idea. Purpose built software at a reasonable price is a great business model. Your customers get great software without a lot of bulk they don't care about. I have Microsoft Office on my Mac but I never use it and don't plan on buying the 2008 version.

By the way the reason I am so delighted by MacJournal's improved
audio handling is the acts of composing, performing and recording
music frequently get in each others way using other tools. By
enabling MacJournal to capture high quality audio, one can capture
both what one is thinking and planning as well as its tangible
manifestation. In terms of work flow this allows me to describe
what I am doing and capture it in the same document, which keeps
the analysis and planning coupled with the capture of the
expression. I can then further export the audio file as a .MOV
and use QuickTime Pro to convert it into a .wav or .aiff which can
be dragged and dropped into many apps ranging from professional
grade audio environments to iTunes and GarageBand. The net result
of this is an accelerated work flow where one can go from an idea
to a musical score and a CD in an hour. I have just spent the day
working this out and am grateful to you for providing a tool that
lowers the overhead associated with artistic expression. This is
very important when your day job is something else. (I am the CEO
of the Silicon Valley Innovation Institute.) As a professional
Innovation Specialist (svii.org and howardl.com) I spend a lot of
time examining tools that allow people to create and innovate more
effectively.

Barring any dramatic change in its
performance or my experiences with Write, it is likely Mariner Write
will be
the only word processor I use on my MacBook from here on out. Even if or
when Microsoft produces a Universal version of Word, I'll stick with
Write.
It's simply a great word processor. I could lit all of the things I like
about it, but they'd all be thing you've heard before. The biggest
challenge
for me has simply been getting used to the differences between Write and
Word, learning the user convention in Write vs. Word, a simply just
becoming
familiar with Write's user interface, which is, by the way, very easy to
learn. But then again, having used Word for the last 15 years, I
think it's
only normal to feel a bit awkward getting beyond using another
program when
you have been so indoctrinated with the only other word processor (MS
Word)
you have ever used. But other than that, and with few exceptions, I
want to
tell you that you have a fine product in Write and I have no doubt
that it
will be my new standard, fulfilling my every word processing need.
I especially appreciate the fact that without any problem, Write can
open
and read Word documents as well as save to the .doc format.

I just wanted to let you know I broke the world record "Start up your
personal blog by just registering, typing some text and clicking after

By the way, I used MacJournal 4, just upgraded, no user manual opened.
Great job!

Why did I purchase Fridge poetry, being french and
not english?
First, I like playing with words. Also, I must
professionnaly be accustomed to that: writing
easily and with elegance is a must for my
university work.
But there is more.
A few minutes of use of the trial downloaded
version convinced me that it was an excellent
tool for learning more english by means of an
unusual but astute method. After only a little
hour of exercising, nice and thoughtful sentences
began to appear. So I discovered a new and fresh
method of improving my english. This is why I
quickly registered my trial version.
Thank you Mariner Software.

Write allows me to deal with MS Word documents (including Word docs
written using double-byte characters, like Chinese and Japanese)
without having to wait for MS Word to to fire itself up. I like its ability
to match default fonts with the language input system I select (I do
a lot in Chinese and Japanese as well as in English). I like being
able to set the default saving mode to MS Word RTF, because
most recipients still expect to receive Word documents.
It's so fast and flexible that I would call it (so far, anyway) a
"lightspeed heavyweight".

Mariner Write is for me a speedy tool when writing pages that must be rushed.
Because Mariner Write is reacting naturally and simply.
And M.W. doesn't need much free memory; many
other softwares can work simultaneously besides
M.W. It is for me a precious feature.
I own Microsoft Word, a necessity caused by my
university environment where Office is dominant.
But Word responds often strangely, causing
unnecessary hassle. I don't like its "gas
factory" pack of features. A lighter text
processor must be there for offering more
streamlined features.
Mariner Write does the job.

I am the editor of a magazine and a professional writer, as well as a
Mac devotee. While we produce our magazine each month using Macs, and
I regularly write and edit on my Mac at home, ours is a "Windows
World," and I have used the de facto word processing standard, MS
Word, merely to coexist with PC-using authors and coworkers.
Using the Mariner Write demo for a few days, I felt
impressed by its user-friendly simplicity, its variety of necessary
(but not overboard) features and its clean export of documents to a
Word-compatible format. While time might reveal a feature or two that
I need/miss, I believe I have finally found the Word alternative I
have long sought.

Write is a great program which is simplicity in itself. But underlying
the simple surface are all sorts of bells and whistle await the user's
graduation into those area. Why pay big money for a program put out by
the "Big Guys" when this simple Word Processor does just what I want --
helps me capture keystrokes/words. You've done a great job here.

revolving around its 256 column limit..
I'm trying to get data from After Effects into my 3D

it no problem at all!!! Stunning, thank-you so much!

I think that you can do wonders with this software (Desktop Poet) as an educational
tool. The name doesn't do it justice. It would appeal to all teachers...not
just poets. I know that I could use it for workshops if it came in a PC
version. It's too good to be just a Mac program.
I just purchased mac journal after using the free version for a
while. I just wanted to write a quick note about how much I love
MacJournal. In addition to using it as a journal, it's been invaluable
as a tool for organizing information of just about any kind. I'm a
writer and I use it to record screenplay ideas I have, lists of contests
to enter, people to contact and just about any bit of text I want to keep.
I like the software because it's makes it so easy to record and organize
my thoughts. The nesting is such a brilliant idea I'm surprised it's
not used in other programs (like Word). I use MacJournal every day.
It's really indispensable to me.
Most users have some photo program on their
computers where they process digital photos,
like Photoshop Elements. I had some very sharp
photos saved in a Photoshop format, but in the
Mariner Write document, it did not paste
anywhere as clear as in your photo program.
Even if you save it at 1600 dpi, which takes forever
to print, it still looks "pixelated." When I saved the
photo in a JPG format, and pasted it into a Mariner
Write document, it pasted as a huge photo.
But, grabbing one of the black corner boxes, I shrank
it diagonally to the size I wanted (keeping the proper
proportion of height vs. width.) I was amazed how
sharp and clear the photo printed on my laser printer,
at 300 dpi.
So, for me, JPG is the only format to use for Mariner Write.

If justice held sway, MarinerWrite would be the word processor that
dethrones MS Word. I have used Word for the Mac since 1988, but after
16 years Word, it was time to reconsider. Word has gotten so overblown,
so prone to problems and so overpriced that I determined that I would
seek out the best alternative out there. And that alternative is
Mariner Write (Mariner Calc likewise does a yeoman job as a spreadsheet
program). Two good products, at a great price.
Yours in Christ, Fr. James Lentini jlentini0404@mac.com
Several times I have approached a solution to a problem while using
Mariner Write's "Table" feature thinking "this will never work," and
been proven wrong. I suppose that the first time was when I used it as
it was routinely meant to be used, as a table, and figured that
documents with tables would surely be easier to handle with a larger
("more sophisticated," we say) program. Surprisingly, Mariner Write's
tables are simpler to make and easier to use than the table feature in
the much larger AppleWorks.
I had the same preconceived notion when I tried to use a table to make
up for the fact that Mariner Write did not wrap text around a graphic.
I could perhaps use a table to make it look as though it did wrap text.
I would make a table with one row and two columns, put the graphic in
one of the columns, put the text (or continuation of text) in the
other, then erase the lines. It will never work, I thought. But, it
did. I now do it routinely, sometimes leaving the table lines that
frame the photo. The size of the two boxes can be adjusted to suit the
size of the graphic, and the 9-pt attribution for the graphic can
easily be placed under its right-hand corner.
The last case (to date) of something that I figured would never work
was when I prepared a chart of the characters that a font would produce
when using none or various combinations of the modifying keys. I made
five four-row tables, each representing the keyboard. I designated one
for unmodified text, one using only the Shift key, one using the
Option key, one using both the Shift and Option keys, and finally one
modified by the Control key. The chart was going to be for the Merriam
Webster font, but I made the five tables while in another font, Times.
I assumed that I would have to pause at each box on each row of each
table and change the font from Times to Merriam Webster. But I was
wrong. The table did not dictate what the default font would be, but I
learned that I could select the boxes I wanted to fill, and change
them, all at the same time, to the other font. Then I could simply move
the cursor with the tab key from box to box and add the Merriam Webster
equivalents of each key I pressed.
Very useful indeed.

I have had several people ask me what software I use to write and publish my books,.
My answer is I have tried them all if they can run on Panther, I have used them.
However there is only one I will recommend. Mariner Write is the best software
for writers using a Mac, hands down, nothing or no one does what it does. I not
only wrote all of my books on it, but my cover guys did my covers and previews
on it as well. For all of you LULU Publishers, Mariner Write saves your books
to PDF, no more converters needed. Way to go Mariner Guys and Gals keep up the
good work.

We have looked long and hard at most of the text-processors on the market for OSX.
We have found that Mariner Write is what we have long looked and waited for. Period.
There is nothing we miss in the program neither we encourage you to alter or beef
up in the program. Mariner Write is pretty easy to use
for layman's, nice to look at, yet powerful and versatile enough to satisfy the
advanced and professional users needs.
Mariner Write gets a full buy recommendation without hesitation - its sad that
Mariner Write is not more widely known in Europe - we hope to change that with
our report in the upcoming Palmtop-pro magazine.
Cheers!

I have
been using Mariner Write for a couple of years now and have recently begun using
Mavriner Calc. What first attracted me to the former was its ability to produce
vertical Japanese text, a feature I still make use of. Also, while I can and
do write in Japanese (and less often in Polish), I appreciate a world-script
savvy word processing program with menus and help in English.
In addition to the language capabilities, Mariner Write's small memory foot
and speed make for a very efficient application. I use another word processing
program when I am need of more advanced search and replace and macro-producing
options in my linguistics research, but it is not yet OS X native, nor does
it have the vertical text option.
As noted above, I have just begun using Mariner Calc, so it is a bit early to
be making any sort detailed evaluation, but my initial impressions have been
very favorable. I have two Japanese localized spreadsheet applications: one
a stand-alone program and the other, part of a general "works" application.
The former is a program whose name well-known as a spreadsheet program, and
while my Japanese version can, of course, deal with Japanese text, I have reports
from friends that the English version often produces gobbledygook in place of
Japanese. I have not run into this problem at all with Mariner Calc, and, as
in the case of Mariner Write, I really appreciate having the application itself
in English.
