Snow Leopard is out!
Friday, August 28, 2009

After months of waiting, Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) hits the streets today. You won't see many smoke and mirror features in this release as most of the improvements are behind the scenes in the architecture. Being Apple developers, some of us here at Mariner have been on Snow Leopard for a little while now and have been thoroughly impressed. The speed and stability are probably what will stand out the most. Our apps have held up for the most part as well. While we won't take the company line quite yet and say all of our apps are 100% compatible with Snow Leopard (multiple product companies usually don't this early on), we haven't run across any major crashers or show stoppers. If in testing the next few days we discover any issues we'll be sure to post an update as quick as we can.

It has been reported on http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/ that Paperless 1.0 "Crashes when document viewer is closed". I assume you are now testing all your products under 10.6 and working as fast as you can to correct issues. I only recently acquired Paperless but intend to be fully-utilizing it over the next month or so, so I'm hoping that upgrading to 10.6 will not be a hindrance.
Hi Anonymous-
Yes, we've been working on a fix all day. It seems as it's an intermittent problem and occurring on multi-page documents. It's our top priority to get a fix ip.
thanks
Mike
Paperless 1.0 the OCR Feature Seems not to be working, I am scanning from a ScanSnap.
@Michael Wray
Great product, thanks! Looking forward to the fix for Snow Leopard. Incidentally, I don't see any auto-filling taking place after scanning receipts as Kake also mentions. OCR is not a necessity for me, but it would be nice to have (as is anything that saves typing!).
Also, horizontal scrolling (I'm using two fingers on my MacBook trackpad) of items in the library does not work very well... it kind of skips erratically when you're trying to slowly scroll through items.
Overall, I'm glad for a product like this which fills a definite gap in electronic filing. :-)
Hi Mike,
it's fine to take care about the compatibility with 10.6 but when you take a look at the forums you will see that there are several serious issues with Mariner products. I cant believe that everyting have been testet adequately in advance to insure everything running well with 10.6.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the products of your company but now we have at least one showstopper (Paperless) with crashes and lost documents.
Especially Paperless is a not so old product, and 10.6 was announced early enough to take it into consideration for the developement. Unlike MacJournal wich is quite old (but one of my favorite sw) => that's why Iam wondering a little bit about these errors..
I'am looking forward for updates.
I seem to be having problems syncing between MacGoumet Deluxe (running under 10.6) and an iPod Touch 1G running v3.0. MacGourmet can recognize the iPod, but when it tries to sync, the iPod spinner goes on forever without doing any syncing.
montage worked a few days on 10.6 albeit hanging a few times and me having to force quit it. now suddenly its not even loading. crashing the moment i load the software.
are you sure there is 100% compatibility with 10.6?
Paperless and Montage are experiencing some issues we are working on now. Please refer to our forums for more info. Our Development team are currently working on slip releases now.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Mike
I just bought Montage and am quite disappointed so far. Not with the product itself but with the fact that it crashes constantly. Hope you guys fix this soon.
Is there a timeline for a new release of Paperless that will make it more 10.6-compatible?
Very soon. It's in internal testing now.
Hang in there.
Mike
