Montage 1.3 Ships!!
Tuesday, December 11, 2007
Wow, this was a complicated release. With as many features and bug fixes that were added, it ultimately could have been a major release. But given the fact that the product is still young and we have a ton of innovative and industry-first features still in our quiver, I'd say we made the right move. We still have a long ways to go to be the leading Mac OS X screenwriting app on the market, but I can safely say (and our beta team full of professional writers will second it) that 1.3 doesn't take a few small steps toward our goal, but more like a few giant leaps!
Here are a few interesting (well, maybe to some - :-)) behind-the-scenes highlights to Montage 1.3.
-One feature (Save as Final Draft) took more than 13 months to complete.
-There were, at one point early on in the Alpha stage, 111 outstanding bugs.
-Montage 1.3 ships the day after CompUSA closes its doors. Sigh.
-(For geeks only) There are 779 text strings in Montage, not including some plists and templates.
-Montage was code-named, "Rosebud."
-The Montage user guide contains a reference to the author's allergy to chicken.
-Montage 1.3 was first announced at the Cannes Film Festival.
If I can think of a few more, I'll add them.
If you are a seasoned screenwriter or a newbie with an idea, give Montage a try. I assure you it's like nothing you've tried before. You can do so from our Downloads page here...http://www.marinersoftware.com/download.php
One last plug for all those that participated (internal and external) to help get this release out. A heartfelt "thank you" for all your effort!
Mike
